Healthy Kickstart Days 2, 3 and 4

Hurray for getting back into healthy eating!  I’m not going to lie, the first 2 days I felt rough.  Tired, low, in a fog.  But on day 3 I started to feel more energetic, my mood is much better, and I’m craving less of the not-so-good stuff and more of the really-good stuff.  Phew.  Surrounding oneself with inspiration helps; like Kris Carr, and Naturally Lauren, and watching films like Food Matters, and Hungry for Change.  I think that once your body is already used to eating well it craves it and misses it when you go off track.  This then makes it easier to get back to it, with usually just a few tweaks here and there.

Tom and I have been enjoying daily juices (high-five!),


and Theo and I have been enjoying post-lunch green smoothies.



This one was Dreena Burton’s Tropical Smoothie which I confess I did not love.  But it is perfect for those who are new to green smoothies and need something sweeter.


This is my current fave – banana, spinach, berries, a flaxseed blend, and water.



As for dinners, I’ve been turning to Dreena Burton’s recipes.  I know, I know, I’m a broken record but I love them.  They fit the bill for my family right now; they’re accessible and not too fiddly.  Particularly loving her Chickpea Ratatouille, Thai Chickpea Almond Curry, and BBQ Green Beans and Chickpeas.

Outside of food, we’re just getting back into our routines after being away from home so much recently.  Theo and I are definite home bodies; neither of us are very good when we’re out of routine and our space.  All is back to being well and happy.
