VeganMoFo and a Safe Place to Eat

Happy October 1st!

This month apparently is…

veganmofo-1From what I gather from my minimal research, this means that October is officially the Vegan Month of Food where bloggers publish as many delicious meals and recipes as possible throughout the month.  It was started by cookbook author and cooking show host, Isa Chandra Moskowitz from the Post Punk Kitchen and this year is it’s third year.  Now, I’m a bit scared of this challenge because I don’t know if I have the time or dedication but I’m going to give it a shot.  Hopefully it’ll show you how inspiring food can be regardless of your dietary restrictions (chosen or medical).  So, bring it on!

Since I have been lazy in the kitchen recently instead of sharing a recipe I’m going to share this delicious meal…

nonya curry

…nonya curry (vegan and gluten free).  I have this every single time we go out to our new favourite restaurant, Tampopo because, aside from it being the only meal I can eat there, it’s delicious!  I don’t think I could ever tire of it.   It’s flavoured with sweet spices such as lemongrass, tons of ginger and lime with cocunut milk to temper the tanginess (is that a word?).  It’s seriously awesome.  And the tofu in it is perfectly cooked.  Honestly, why can I never cook tofu at home like they do in restaurants???  For those of you who live in the UK this restaurant can be found in Manchester, Leeds, London, and Bristol and has recipes from all over East Asia (the nonya curry originates in Singapore).  It’s also excellent for people with allergies because they have a chart which clearly states all the common allergens present in each dish.  I haven’t been ill from eating there yet so that’s got to be a good sign.

Right, back to revising for tomorrow’s exam.

  1. We are vegan for health as well so I can relate to your challenges.

    The mostly raw lettuce raws look really good. Now I am sorry I have leftovers for lunch.
